T4D #86 - Time to pack up
« on: November 20, 2013, 01:11:54 PM »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pkm9XIQN4U

Martin is moving again, and will be going to a new bigger lab where he will be able to spread out more.

Explanations of the behind the scenes work, setup and how the sausage is made.

A quick poll for all, how do you like the intro music. Reply in the post as to how you like the intro music used on the T4D videos and suggestions on how you feel about it. New outro music as well.

41000 plus subscribers to this channel does mean Martin is doing something right.

I quite like both musics, so I'm not going to vote for either.

However, a bit of variation doesn't hurt, so there's no reason he couldn't change it from time to time.

The music is fine, variety is the spice of life ;). IMHO the opening titles on a LCD are a neat touch for an electronics channel.

Other major contributors to electronics on the YouTube site use the same musical intro. It is, in my opinion, a reminder of just who we are about to learn from (I know, a preposition). I don't mind the music. A larger video production site is also giving a 'new' and exciting, showing off the testing equipment, etc.
As an example of intro music, look at one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGez1WzTOss&list=PLA0AF9A1586D50544
Whatever training video I look at from INE Training, I know it is that company because of the lead-in music. The intro is unique and has established itself as an identifier for that company...kind of like hearing the Mickey Mouse theme; you know what's coming.
MJ Lorton should, also, establish his video intro as a unique identifier for us that follow this training sessions.
What do you think?

Yup, I have wanted to establish a tune / piece of music, whether it's liked or not, as a form of identification. The issues with Youtube have forced me to change a couple of times. I don't want to get too caught up with fancy intro's etc...so this will be it for the time being.

How about contacting eg. TheGeoffSmith and getting a piece of intro/exit music composed and recorded especially for you, that you own the copyright and performance rights to for your own use. That way you have no problems as you have the rights, so any DMCA love notes get a firm reply to go and do something anatomically difficult.

Certainly a consideration! There is still the chance...that the Youtube DMCA algorithm finds it and just takes the video off line (or removes monetisation)...they don't make it easy to challenge...and that can be a major pain the in the butt.
