QTV #11 - ISO-TIP #7700 Cordless Soldering Iron
Martin does a quick review on a cordless soldering iron.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBYGAxK5ueUA successor to the old Weller/Antex cordless soldering irons that were around in the 1980's. I still have some of those little tips around, though the soldering unit they were used for is long gone, having both cooked the NiCd battery pack and the plastic case having fallen to pieces from being abused.
The issue with the batteries is the cells are charged direct, and they are constant current charged at a high rate, to get the 3 hour charge time, so the life is shortened. Best is to charge for 3 hours, or modify the charger to charge at a low current overnight, and at the same time add some charge indication.
