:: what SMD rework stations do you guys use? ::
« on: March 05, 2013, 08:56:31 AM »
Hello everyone,

im new here. im looking for a possible addition to my bench a SMD rework station.

i have been very tempted by taobao. but i am just wondering (since i can read chinese, not all of it but some) ... i dangled a search aoyue 968, which is a fairly nice piece, but it seems to be a really bad selling product online. has anyone used this and its bad or something? not durable? flimsy?

i have the pre conception that these factories make the ODM/OEM for a number of other brands, so ... what do you guys use that is rather, practical?

cheers  ;D

I know someone that has bought a Aoyue 968 and was pleased with it. At the same time i purchased a KADA 852D+. I have had it for around 5 years now and it has not let me down. First impressions i got from it were not to great but, when i got to using it, i was quite impressed. It can pump out quite a lot of heat from the blower. I have used it successfully on a number of through hole 68040 processors from Amiga expansion cards. The soldering iron tip was a little loose, but once disassembled and reassembled, it was fixed and has been one of my better irons and gets constant use.

I've been using one from Circuit Specialists CSI-825A, I think it's just a rebranded Aoyue... not sure which model.

It seems to work fine.  I haven't really checked the temperature accuracy.
