So I went back to the scrapyard today.

So, I went to drop off cardboard today, and came back with 24kg of stuff.

There were more decade boxes, but unfortunately they were further in, and had already been rather crushed by "The Claw" - cue Toy story.........

Will look later to see what works, but did find 2 power meters, and those were made in Australia, and are actually current models.

So here is what I got, opened up to see if they still work, and if they are charred beyond belief inside.

Precision resistor box, looks like it was made around 1978, and all 3 were made in the UK.

Precision 1uF capacitor, complete with the polystyrene trimming capacitors.

Resistance decade box, looks like it has had some overloads, and the resistors on the low side are somewhat cooked, some are well cooked, as the 1-10k range is not working. Time to order some 0.1% or so tolerance resistors on eBay.

Resistors ordered on ebay, now to wait for a month for them to arrive....... 10R, 100R and 1k resistors, so I can change them all if needs be. I did get 2 of each of all the above.

Very nice find Sean! Do you have any idea who would have scrapped them?
Play, discover, learn and enjoy! (and don't be scared to make mistakes along the way!)

Probably one of the colleges, there was a whole lot of stuff from a teaching lab there, including what once was a nice plotter., and a transmission line simulator and some motor demo boxes which were in bad condition.
