Household LED Lamps cause RFI on shortwave
« on: April 09, 2012, 09:57:32 AM »
From YCCC, here's an excellent video by the German Amateur Radio Club (DARC) about RFI from the new LED lamps (aka LED 'Light bulbs').

Check it out around 11:30 mins.  Whole thing is excellent.

Makes you think twice about using LED residential lamps. Perhaps food for thought for some ML experiments.  :)

Thanks Ken,

Very interesting, I posted a video response (to be approved) to his video.

Cheers,
Martin.
Play, discover, learn and enjoy! (and don't be scared to make mistakes along the way!)

Here is the ballast output for a common electronic ballast. Not terribly clean RF wise, and as it is SELV there will not likely be any RF shielding used on the wiring.
