A new shocking episode for you.

I think you need this to test the input protection........

15kV at 30mA, will definitely light up your life a lot.

Classic!
Re: T4D #33 - I certainly want to do a test of the input protection on a multimeter or two...but the taser might be no contest....I might try a short through the current input with mains from the inverter....Fluke vs Uni-T....due care and safety taken into account....
-
I have a spare one if you want it..... Physical address and I will send it via Berco.

The fuse will pop and that'll be it.

15kV will happily arc over the fuse, and burn it's way through everything. The lamp that was there blew after a short uninteresting life ( Chinese made junk) but with this as power it gave light, and got hot enough to burn the board under it after a minute.

I don't think his inverter puts out 15kV.

Yes, quite right, I was thinking of the NST. Shorting the inverter output though will not be good for it, depending how the output protection is, it might be terminal for the inverter.

I should hope the inverter is designed to handle a short circuit until a protective device operates, otherwise it's not fit for purpose!

You put the UNI-T into the mains and it will just pop that's all :P It's the same fuse you find in a proper UK socket and the BS1362 (not the glass rubbish that i find sometimes, not sure which idiot placed it there) blows without any fireworks or any fantastic things happening ..
