Hello!
One simple thought concerning the metal-halide light and UV light. It may be that this type of light source "drives" solar panels better, because solar panels "process" UV light and convert that into electricity. I heard from somebody that solar panels work in cloudy weather, as long as there's UV light bursting through clouds and hitting them.
By the way, some really interesting episodes will come shortly and boy I can hardly wait. You have just the right equipment to test the stuff I'm working with and that's great. We'll all be able to learn a lot. :)

I look forward to the bench power supply project. I've completed one of my designs now, but I look forward to seeing Martin's.
BTW Martin, when did you get the Rigol PSU?

I'm looking forward to getting the components on a breadboard to test if I have the circuit correct. So just note...this design is not originally mine. It was provided to us in our second year class at Cape Technikon.
As for the Rigol PSU...I got it a few weeks ago. I don't have a precision bench power supply and some of the features and functionality on it are really handy. Real time power reading (wish it did energy too!) and a record / data logging feature....which can be used to calculate energy (power over time) after the fact.

Any news on the next power supply vid? I'm holding an order in case I need anything for that :P
Cheers,

I hope to have the first one out in about a week if all goes to plan...
