Title: A more rationalized solar panel?
Post by: weijing3333 on July 28, 2015, 12:06:44 AM
Would it be possible to use a lens or a mirror to focus light onto a solar panel in order to product in more efficient?
And is something like this already one used?
It was just a thought and I haven't spent much time on it, but I figured I'd ask.

Yes you can do it, but then you need to think of the added complexity. Things like cooling of the solar cells, as they will be absorbing a lot more heat energy, so will need either passive or active cooling. Then adding a lens or parabolic mirror means you now need to track the sun accurately, so as to have the cell at the focus point.
