I'm going to take some pictures in more detail, and post it later, you change the speed of the tape like a car gear box lol

As well the trade off between audio quality and tape use. High speed, good audio response, short tape time. Low speed, usable for dictation, but you can record for hours.......

All those OC  and AD series PNP transistors in there, and the hand taped PCB artwork.
