Every single part in that was made in Japan, from the steelwork, using steel made in Japan from imported iron ore, the motors and the components, either made by Sony themselves, or bought in from other Japanese manufacturers like Matsushita and then assembled by hand mostly ( most sub assemblies were supplied by subcontractors who might have used automation in parts) to make this.
A far cry from the present Sony, where most is made in automated factories outside Japan.
