Its great to see the new lab Martin. Looks really nice and cosy . I'm definitely coming to your place for my summer holidays  .

I was going to ask if by 'restroom', you meant toilet, but you cleared that one up later in the video. Is 'restroom' an American thing? Because we just tend to call them toilets here in England.

Just wondering, what colour temperature and colour rendering index are all the lights?

Looks nice, but please think about your own safety Martin, i saw a fire extinguisher, wich is good. But there are no windows or other doors, no runaways, except the staircase. I hope there is enough ventilation, install some detectors (fire, monoxide,..)
You are busy with electronics, stored batteries, capacitors,...

Nice new room, but needs some sound dampening, either some drapes ( the wall behind the bench will be good if there are no shelves there) on the walls to absorb the sound and reduce echo. You can hear the difference in the unfinished part where there are multiple absorbent surfaces and reflectors. A good thing would also be some acoustic tiles on the roof to absorb the sound going up. A lot of the noise is fan noise, easy enough to attenuate with a few packs of new ceiling tiles on the existing, just missing the duct if it will be too low.  An air outlet ( with adjustable damper) on the duct to bring fresh air into the basement area will also help, along with having a heat exchanger to allow fresh outside air to come in always, making the inlet air comfortable summer and winter.

In regards to safety I have 4 fire extinguishers down here of varying types.

I have one carbon monoxide monitor, one carbon monoxide / fire detector (place near safe with battery testing), one radon monitor / alarm, and a main fire detector that is has a wireless connection to two other detectors upstairs.

Sound damping and issues...solved some of those...also waiting on a sound meter that does data logging to play and experiment with sound damping materials.

Ventilation is one of the next projects on the list.

I have purchased loads of LED lights and placed them all over the house to understand pro's and con's...video on that will happen.

My Radio shack is a shed in the cellar, I have a shed down there because it is deadly cold down there in the cellar, however my shed, which I spent a fortune on, is insulated, I have a small oil filled heater which is more than capable of heating my woman free zone.

I find Americans tend to get a bit offended/freaked out when I say I'm going to the toilet. They much prefer to say they are going to 'the bathroom', even if the toilet isn't in a bathroom .

I've just setup this section with LED lighting that I have purchased and used around our home...and so far I'm happy with their performance.

It's a big firm...we like them 'cos they pay the bills

funny enough I was in Makro today ( buying a 2 pin adaptor for work as the last dozen had done the usual vanishing act) and, while waiting for any sales associate to arrive from lunch I was helping another customer to choose LED downlighters. They actually have a reasonably decent Osram 3W downlighter on sale at the moment, R69 each. Demo'd the lamp to the customer using the junky LED display there ( made by a company with a blue logo) against the other brands, and convinced him not to buy the cheap junk ones, and that they would run cooler but with a lot less light than the 50W lamps he was looking at. The better quality ones would also last longer, so he took 2 of the Osram to try. Think I should get a sales code for there..........
