Uni-Trend replacement parts
« on: July 25, 2014, 03:47:53 PM »
Has anyone found a way to get replacement parts for Uni-Trend products?
They provide one email address: info@uni-trend.
My experience is it is ignored; not even an autorespond acknowledgement, much less an answer.
I have found nowhere else.

Have you tried their number: (852) 2950 9168?

If you have a Google Voice account, international calling is very cheap. From the US, it's like 2 cents per minute!

Eric,

Thank you for the reply.
No, I didn't call them.  Mostly because of the potential language barrier.
Although being Hong Kong, (I think), that might not be a problem.
I was hoping someone had found a US office or something.
Also I can't do internet phone because I live in the country and don't have that kind of performance.

Good points, although I don't think Uni-T has a US office. I have been lucky in the past with direct contact with chinese companies with english speaking customer service but this is not the case all the time.  If I come across anything I'll post it here for you!

What parts in particular are you trying to find? I don't deal directly with Uni-T but my supplier does and they can usually get me very good support and access to information and parts that might otherwise be hard to find.

I want some spare battery covers/back panels.  It is my experience that these get broken, particularly the stand flap.
I also want to modify a couple of them to provide wall wart power for continuous operation when logging (UT61E and UT61C).

I will also point out I am a full EE and I know how to do this properly.
Using separate covers will keep normal battery operation possible, and no modification to the basic meter.

I would think these covers would be one of the most common replaceable parts aside from fuses and probes.
I have recently done this same thing with my Fluke 289.

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. Been rather occupied with my eBay store...

I've asked my supplier and they should be able to provide me those, but will take a week or 2. How many do you need? And just to clarify - it is the UT61E battery cover with the tilting bail, correct?

iloveelectronics,

Thank you for remembering.  I am looking for four, two for the UT61E and two for the UT61C.  I am not clear if they are the same.

Yes, it is the battery holder with the hinged flap.

How would we do this?  I see you have an ebay store.  Would we run it through that?  There is something else there I am interested in.

Or if it makes more sense to connect me direct?  Whatever is satisfactory for you.

Perhaps we should take this offline?
