Or, this thing really annoyed me.
So, today I helped a friend with a gate motor that was giving trouble. Regular faults, battery dead, gone to meet it's maker, popped it's clogs, given out the gas invisible and sitting at 4V, but not swollen to the size of a melon. The culprit, the charger died, low charge voltage after a power cut.
Replaced with a rebuilt one ( 2 new caps, like this one will be getting soon), and a new tested battery and all is well again using test button. 7H30, we will be done really fast today.
Then go to add a remote, as "There is only ONE", and run into issues. Try an erase, and relearn them all again, but this one she says " Nope, not going to do that Dave!", and resolutely just sits there doing nothing, aside from making a flash when trying the program mode or erase. 7H30 Sunday morning, going to be a problem.
So, off we trundle for Wimpy Brekkie, and Coffee, as the Security store, she only open at 9, and now it is 8, plus we also need some plumbing parts for the toilet that is making like a lake, and a non return valve to keep the water in during water Shedding at night, or all plumbing is air only. Turns out Springfield park is having load shedding, AKA somebody stole the cabling again. Back to manual paper book keeping, but lucky the speedpoint has internal power still.
Breakfast done, shopping started, got a new receiver, some wire and a D5 security kit and lock, plus some chain lube for it as well. Then off to Wallyworld local branch ( AKA Builders) to get plumbing, plus a shifting spanner and hacksaw, as we had no other plumbing tools aside from a brick, a short 30km diversion for car spares as well ( long story there).
Then, back to the gate, and a quick google for the manual to default it out of the annoying condo mode, a new receiver in the housing and lube it up, seal it up and we are done with a nice working gate.
Before is the old receiver, and after is how I got some of the frustration out, with the plumbing tool on hand, a nice brick. non used case of the new receiver did suffer slight damage in the conversion.
