I watched the video for TK4000 meter. I am looking for a linkable meter, cheap. Need to be able to enter resistance reading into a spread sheet. I had my IT tech review the video also. My question is, Does anybody know if the single record will work like a keyboard interupt and log readings directly to a seql or excel sheet? This will only be used to measure and record dc resistance on coils to an established data base. Also curious if anybody has checked out the Tekpower DT9602R? Seems to be similar meter but with optical interface and separation on all the amp readings. Any info anyone can give will be greatly appreciated

I can't answer your data logging question but I do own a Digitek DT-9602R+ which is essentially the same meter as the TekPower you mentioned. Feature-wise it is a better meter than the 4000ZC, with True RMS, Max/Min, bargraph, backlight etc., but I don't like its build quality. The range selector is mushy. The backlight works but isn't the best looking (not very even). The continuity tester is slow. And FYI, there's optical isolation in the 4000ZC too, it's just done inside the meter where there are 2 separate boards with the IR LED and receiver.

Thanks for the info. I am just going to use the meter to download data if possible. It will sit at a test stand and just report dc resistance. The program is already established to collect micrometer readings from a Mitutoyo digital mic. Slight modifications and I can use it with the meter if it works as keyboard interupt. I can establish hi/lo limits and operators enter the reading on a single button push. Data compared to limits. Green moves to next reading, red stops testing. Trying to get rid of paper files and store all data electronically.

If you are wondering whether the meter will function like a keyboard "wedge", then the answer is no.  Communications are one-way, so there is no trigger.  Instead it constantly sends a one-way stream of data in which the LCD segments are encoded as bits in a 14-byte packet.  See this sigrok.org link for a nice write-up.
