Do you think it would be wise for me to remove the cover, and just check stuff like the mains ground wire to make sure nothing is loose before firing it up? I just don't want to void the warranty fro SRA Solder.

Be careful of warranty stickers and try not to mark the screws more than what they are. Just have a look inside and see for yourself.

Got my power supply today. Works very well so far. Volts seem accurate to .02 worst case from 0-31 volts. Amps are within tolorance as well. Not bad for $109.00 shipped. The unit arrived in perfect condition. SRA Solder has been wonderful as well.

Ok, I'm really confused about the OCP, and OVP. I thought that both were to turn off the outputs of the supply when it reaches the limits you set. I can get it to work with the OCP by setting the high clamping point for the current with the output button is off, then after turn on the output I press the OCP button. When I turn up the voltage, and the current reaches my preset value, the output is turned off. Now I thought the same should be true for the OVP, but I can't seem to get it to work. Any suggestions? Also, I don't fully understand how you get it into either Constant current mode, or Constant Voltage mode. It just seems to switch by itself, but shouldn't one be able to enter those modes manually? I'm a noob. Have patients.

Overcurrent means the current will be any value below the setting, and it will limit the current to the set value if it is exceeded by dropping the voltage to get the current to the limit. Constant voltage is the same, the supply will deliver the voltage till it reaches the current limit then drop it to keep in the limit. You cannot select CC or CV modes, but if you have the voltage set very high so the current through the load is set by the current limiting then it will be in CC mode until the voltage across the load is high enough so the supply switches back to CV mode.

Mine seems to work just the opposite way. Say I set my volt to 5, and my amps to .005. If I turn on the output, then press the OCP to set it, it will turn off the supply if i raise the voltage which raises the current past the.005amps. It sounds like that is the way it is suppose to work no?

Ok, I have it sorted out now thanks. It's is working properly. I'm really very impressed with the quality of the little supply, both build, and performance.

Thanks Martin. Next purchase will be a solder station.
