Surface mounted components

Hi , I'm going to bite the bullet on smc, does anyone know where I can get a mixed bag of components to try and master this side of the hobby. I'm in the UK

If its of any interest, Velleman do a few SMD kits. I got their surface mount Christmas tree kit last month. It has a mix of resistors, capacitors, LEDs, and transistors. I found the LEDs rather tricky, and unfortunately I soldered them in the wrong way round the first time. The other parts were fairly easy.
