Digitek DT-4000ZC / TekPower TP4000ZC Discount
« on: January 16, 2013, 12:45:10 PM »
Hello All,

I have just listed this item on my eBay store. It's the Digitek DT-4000ZC, which is basically an identical meter, made by the same manufacturer, to the TekPower TP4000ZC which Martin reviewed a few months ago:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXzAD74C5As
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pbRLom7bNc

The version I'm selling has a few upgrades included:
1. The data logging cable now has a USB connector so there's no need for any RS232 to USB converter anymore.
2. The test leads that come with it have gold plated probe tips to ensure a much more consistent contact and conductivity.
3. There's a choice of colour on the holster, Blue or Red.

It is listed at $36.99 (worldwide shipping included), but members can contact me here directly and get one for $35. For members/viewers from the USA, I still encourage you to buy it through Martin's Amazon store as you can get it cheaper there (with US shipping), and in doing so you will also support Martin in his effort to keep his Youtube channel and this forum running.

Here's the link to my eBay listing for detailed description and pictures: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200880262282

Cheers,
Franky

Thanks Franky, I have included a link from the video reviews here and added Digitek DT-4000ZC to the title as well.

Cheers,
Martin.

Franky was going to PM you to let you know the two meters arrived safely but thought i would post here if anybody else is thinking of getting one of these. I am gob smacked how good these meters are for the money. If anybody is looking for a cheap meter with data logging you will not go wrong with these. One of them needed a quick cal but that was me just being picky. I would not use these for any mains testing but if you are starting out in electronics as a hobby this meter is a fantastic piece of kit for the money. And I still can't get over the fact it does data logging to boot.

Franky
I have got my multimeter and it came in a very nice condition and package was excellent, and I didn't pay much in customs, it was only Us 5.
well the box was smaller than what I expected same for the multimeter, which I love the small size for portability, it came with the temperature probe, USB cable, and the software.

Well basically I got that multimeter to check the resistance of my Ecig clearomizer and tanks, I have run a test side by side with Fluke 179 and I also have Mod ecig that read the resistance, I got amazed that the readings was perfectly matching both the fluke and the Mod ecig, also tested the voltage of my ecig batteries and again am so amazed that its showing what the battery screen indicating exactly.

Well the digitek Dt-4000ZC is such a perfect little device with really very accurate readings, for my use am even more than so happy with it.
Thank you franky so much the shipping was really pretty fast...
its indeed such a fantastic accurate little device for that price

I have just bought DT-4000ZC, as a multimeter it is fine.
As a data logger it failed.
The DT-4000ZC came with a connection cable. One end USB male plug,  the other end standard headphone 3.5 mm stereo (TRS) jack.
The computer fails to talk with DT-4000ZC.

I am sorry for the 30$.

I have sent you a message through eBay, please have a look and see if the you can provide me with the diagnosis information I need. If it turns out to be a faulty unit/cable I will either re-fund or send you a new one. Let me know.

My two of these from you turned up today! (I ordered them before I signed up for the forum, so I will take my eBay ding with good heart).

Very impressed with how fast they turned up and so forth, and I'm having fun playing with them.

I have a couple of comments---they are not complaints at all, I mention them just in case they are useful to you or anyone else.

1. The mini CD that came in the package with the software on didn't work in any of my computers, because they're all slot-loaders: I managed to find a tray-loading CD drive in a cupboard though so that was OK :)
2. The DMM.EXE software has to be run as an administrator under Windows because it needs to talk to the hardware, and I couldn't see this in the documentation.  It doesn't check whether you're an admin, it just says 'Can't start COM port' or something if you're not.  It flummoxed me for a couple of minutes, because my normal Windows user account isn't an admin account.

I'm hoping to hack something up to get this to talk sensibly to my main datamunging PC, which runs something UNIXy, so watch this space...

Thanks!

... and now I saw the link on the eBay auction to download the software and now I feel extremely silly for having dug through cupboards to find a sane CD drive!  Oh well.  One lives and learns.
