£200 bench meters (featuring TTi 1604)

Just seen the review of the Uni-T bench meter. TBH I thought it seemed a bit rubbish for the price. I like the display though .

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had used the Thurlby Thandar 1604 meter? Don't seem to come across them on forums much.

I used some a few years back, and they have a pretty decent spec and are about £200. Its 40000 counts, has nice switches on the front, and the usual stuff like Null, touch hold etc.

Only thing I could really complain about is its continuity tester. It is latched, but is horribly slow. I think the auto ranging and update speed may also have been a tad slow, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is old technology. Looks like it might have been around for a while.

Just for interest: Autoranging works in the min/max-mode?
Do autoranging generate the same peaks at logging as it does the UT-61E?

I can“t imagine to buy this BMM.
The device is nice designed, but the hardware isn“t up to date.
The spec“s and functionality is beaten by every handheld MM, except the very cheap.

See no market for the toy at this price...

(The "old" TTi1604 looks far superior for my opinion...)
